Letter from the President

This report highlights the ever-increasing impact and status of George Mason University.

In 2023, Mason graduated the largest class in its history, providing the talent to meet critical needs in the workplace throughout our state and region. We also welcomed our largest and most academically impressive incoming class to become the first public university in the Commonwealth of Virginia to enroll 40,000 students.

At the same time, Mason has emerged as a consensus Top 50 public research university nationally, including being No. 1 in Virginia for diversity, innovation, and social mobility.

In this report, you can learn more about the year’s highlights from our campuses in Fairfax, Arlington, Manassas, and Korea. It also details how Mason, with an alumni base more than 225,000 strong, creates academic, economic, and cultural opportunities available to all Virginians while conducting leading research that enhances lives.

Our Mason Now: Power the Possible campaign is attracting partners eager to support the Mason mission and develop mutually beneficial working relationships with the university. We launched the campaign during our most successful fundraising year in history, and we are off to a fabulous start.

I invite you to read on to learn more about how our outstanding faculty and staff, and my leadership team, serve our students and deliver on Mason’s mission. We have hit the ground running in 2024!
